01Acceptance of terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of www.rainbowsolar.in and to the rooftop solar products and services provided by Rainbow Solar [Registered company name, CIN / GSTIN] ("Rainbow Solar", "we", "us", "our"), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
By using this website, submitting a form, accepting a quotation or making a payment, you ("you", "customer") agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If a signed quotation, purchase order or contract with you says something different, that document applies for the points it covers.
02Use of this website
- You must be at least 18 years old and provide true, accurate and current information in any form.
- Booking a free consultation gives you access to the rest of the website in that browser. This is not a user account, and no password is created.
- You must not misuse the website, including submitting false or someone else's details, sending spam, attempting to break its security, scraping data or interfering with its working.
- Website content (prices, subsidy figures, calculator results, blog articles) is general information, not professional, financial or legal advice. We try to keep it accurate but do not guarantee that it is complete or up to date.
03Free consultation & site survey
Consultations and standard site surveys within our service area are free and carry no obligation to buy. During a survey, our engineer inspects your roof, shading, structure and electrical connection to recommend a suitable system. Please ensure an adult is present and that safe access to the roof is available at the agreed time. Visit dates and slots are subject to availability and weather, and we will inform you of any change.
04Quotations & savings estimates
- Quotations are valid for 15 days from issue unless stated otherwise, and may be revised if the site conditions, system size, government tariffs, taxes or component prices change.
- Prices on the website, calculator results and savings, payback and generation figures are indicative estimates based on typical conditions and current tariffs. Actual results depend on your roof, shading, weather, consumption, DISCOM tariffs and how the system is used and maintained.
- The final scope of supply (system capacity, panel and inverter brand/model, mounting structure, cabling, earthing, metering) is as set out in your accepted quotation.
05Orders & cancellation
An order is confirmed when you accept our quotation in writing (including by email or WhatsApp) and pay the booking advance. Full details are in our Refund & Warranty Policy.
- Before material is ordered or dispatched: you may cancel and receive a refund of the advance, less any non-refundable application, documentation or survey costs already incurred, as stated in your quotation.
- After material is ordered, dispatched or installed: cancellation charges apply to cover material, logistics, labour and restocking costs. Custom-fabricated structures and equipment ordered specifically for you may be non-refundable.
- We may cancel an order and refund amounts paid (less costs incurred) if the site is found to be unsafe or unsuitable, required approvals are refused, or the information you provided is inaccurate.
- Approved refunds are processed to the original payment account within 15 working days.
06Pricing & payment terms
Unless your quotation states otherwise, payments are made in stages:
| Stage | Typical share | When |
|---|---|---|
| Booking advance | [10–30]% | On accepting the quotation |
| Material payment | [50–60]% | Before dispatch of panels, inverter and structure |
| Balance | [10–20]% | On completion of installation and commissioning |
- Prices are in Indian Rupees and include or exclude GST as stated on the quotation. Government levies, DISCOM application/meter fees and any civil or structural work outside the agreed scope are charged as specified.
- Payments are accepted by bank transfer (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS), UPI or cheque only to Rainbow Solar's official company account stated on your invoice. Never pay cash or pay into a personal account. We are not responsible for payments made to anyone else.
- We may pause work or withhold commissioning until overdue amounts are paid. Ownership of the system passes to you only after full payment (see Ownership & risk).
- Subsidy is paid by the government to you and is not deducted from our invoice unless your quotation expressly says so. You must pay the full invoice amount regardless of the timing or outcome of your subsidy claim.
07Financing & EMI
We can introduce you to partner banks and NBFCs offering solar loans and EMI. Loan approval, interest rates, fees and repayment terms are decided solely by the lender under its own agreement with you. Rainbow Solar is not a lender, does not guarantee approval and is not responsible for the lender's decisions. If a loan is rejected or delayed, the payment terms of your order still apply unless we agree otherwise in writing.
08Government subsidy & net metering
- Eligible residential customers may claim central financial assistance under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. As a registered vendor, we help you apply on the national portal and with your DISCOM.
- Eligibility, subsidy amounts, documentation, inspection and release timelines are decided by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the DISCOM and the scheme guidelines, and may change at any time. Subsidy generally requires a residential connection and DCR (made-in-India) panels.
- Rainbow Solar does not guarantee the approval, amount or timing of any subsidy and is not liable if the subsidy is reduced, delayed or rejected for reasons outside our control, including incorrect or incomplete documents, ineligibility or changes to the scheme.
- Net-metering, meter installation and grid synchronisation are carried out by the DISCOM. We will file and follow up applications, but DISCOM timelines and fees are outside our control.
- You must provide accurate documents (electricity bill, ownership proof, ID, bank details) promptly and keep the system installed and operational as required by the scheme.
09Your responsibilities
- Confirm that you own the property or have written consent from the owner, housing society or association to install the system.
- Ensure the roof and building are structurally sound and waterproof, and inform us of any known leaks, cracks or planned construction.
- Provide safe access to the site, storage space for materials, and electricity and water during installation.
- Obtain any society, building or local approvals not included in our scope.
- Do not let anyone other than Rainbow Solar or its authorised technicians modify, relocate or repair the system during the warranty period.
- Keep panels clean and free from shading by new structures or trees, as advised in your handover guide.
10Installation & timelines
Typical residential installations are completed within 2–4 weeks of order confirmation and material payment, with on-site work usually taking 1–3 days. Timelines are estimates and depend on material availability, weather, site readiness, approvals and payments. We follow safety standards and a quality checklist, and will leave the site clean on completion. Commissioning is complete when the system is installed, tested and handed over to you, even if DISCOM net-meter installation is still pending.
11Ownership & risk
Risk of loss or damage to delivered materials passes to you once they are delivered to your site. Ownership of the system passes to you only on receipt of full payment. Until then, we may retain or recover the equipment if payment is not made as agreed.
12System performance
Solar generation varies with sunlight, season, temperature, shading, dust, grid availability and equipment ageing. Any generation or savings figures we provide are estimates, not guarantees, unless a written performance guarantee is expressly included in your contract. On-grid systems shut down during grid power cuts for safety; backup during outages requires a hybrid or off-grid system with batteries.
13Warranties
Your system is covered by manufacturer warranties and our workmanship warranty, as stated in your quotation and warranty card:
| Component | Warranty | Provided by |
|---|---|---|
| Solar panels: performance | Up to 25–30 years (linear power output) | Panel manufacturer |
| Solar panels: product defects | Typically 10–12 years | Panel manufacturer |
| Inverter | 5–10 years, depending on brand and model | Inverter manufacturer |
| Batteries (hybrid/off-grid) | As per battery manufacturer | Battery manufacturer |
| Installation workmanship & structure | 5 years from commissioning | Rainbow Solar |
See our Refund & Warranty Policy for what each warranty covers and how to make a claim. Manufacturer warranties are subject to the manufacturer's own terms. We will register products and coordinate claims on your behalf. Under our workmanship warranty we will, at our option, repair or re-do defective installation work at no cost. Warranty repair or replacement does not extend the original warranty period.
14Warranty exclusions
Warranties do not cover damage or loss caused by:
- natural disasters, lightning, flood, cyclone, fire, earthquake or other force majeure events;
- grid voltage fluctuations, faulty building wiring or earthing not installed by us;
- theft, vandalism, accidents, animals, misuse or negligence;
- repairs, modifications or relocation by anyone other than Rainbow Solar or its authorised personnel;
- structural defects, roof leaks or construction work not part of our installation;
- normal wear and tear, cosmetic changes, and reduced output due to dust, shading or lack of cleaning.
15Service & maintenance
Service requests can be raised by phone, WhatsApp or email. We aim to respond within 48 hours. Free service visits, if included, are stated in your quotation; additional visits, cleaning and Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) are chargeable at our current rates. Remote monitoring, where provided, depends on your Wi-Fi/internet connection and the inverter manufacturer's app.
16Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rainbow Solar is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including loss of savings, income, profit or data, or for losses caused by DISCOM, government, lender or manufacturer actions. Our total liability arising out of any order is limited to the amount you have paid us for that order. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
17Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Rainbow Solar against claims, losses and costs arising from false or incomplete information you provide, lack of authority to install on the property, or your breach of these Terms.
18Force majeure
We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, extreme weather, epidemics, strikes, government orders, changes in law or policy, supply-chain disruptions or DISCOM delays. Timelines will be extended for the duration of such events.
19Intellectual property
All content on this website, including text, design, logos, graphics, photos, calculators and system designs, belongs to Rainbow Solar or its licensors and may not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without our written permission. System designs and quotations we prepare are for your personal use only.
20Privacy
Our use of your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. By submitting a form you agree to be contacted by call, SMS, WhatsApp or email about your enquiry, as described there.
21Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. We encourage you to contact us first so we can resolve any concern quickly and amicably. If a dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, it may be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with the seat and venue in Chennai and proceedings in English. Subject to this, the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction. This does not affect your right to approach a consumer commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
22General
- We may update these Terms from time to time. The version on this page on the date you accept your quotation applies to your order.
- If any provision is found invalid, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
- Our failure to enforce a right does not waive it.
- You may not transfer your rights under an order without our consent. Warranties may be transferred to a new owner of the property on written notice to us.
