What is off-grid solar?

Your Own Independent Power Plant

An off-grid system isn't connected to the electricity grid. Solar panels charge a battery bank during the day, and an off-grid inverter supplies your appliances from the panels and the batteries, day and night. Because everything you use must come from your own generation and storage, the system is sized carefully around your daily load.

  • Power where the grid doesn't reach: farms, remote homes, construction sites and telecom sites
  • No bills, no outages: your supply doesn't depend on the DISCOM
  • Quiet and clean: replaces or reduces diesel generator use

Who it's for

Is Off-Grid Right for You?

Remote homes & farmhouses

Where a grid connection is unavailable or very expensive to extend.

Farms & agriculture

Run pumps, lights and cold storage away from the grid.

Very long power cuts

Areas with hours-long daily outages where backup is essential.

Construction & site offices

Temporary or mobile sites that need clean, quiet power.

Telecom & equipment

Critical loads that must run around the clock.

Replacing diesel gensets

Cut fuel costs, noise and fumes with solar + storage.

Living in a city with grid power? A hybrid system usually makes more sense than fully off-grid: you keep net metering savings, stay eligible for subsidy (depending on configuration), and still get battery backup during power cuts. Our engineer will recommend the right option at your free site visit.
Battery sizing

How Much Battery Do You Need?

A rough guide for homes. We size every system to your actual appliances and backup hours.

Indicative only. Battery size depends on backup hours, appliance ratings and days of autonomy you want for cloudy weather.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is off-grid solar eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar subsidy is for grid-connected rooftop systems. Off-grid systems are usually funded fully by the owner, though some state or agricultural schemes may apply. We'll check what's available for you.
Which battery should I choose: lithium or lead-acid?
Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries cost more upfront but last much longer, need no maintenance and can be discharged more deeply. Tubular lead-acid batteries are cheaper initially but need regular topping-up and replacement sooner.
How long do the batteries last?
Good lithium batteries typically last 8–10+ years; lead-acid batteries usually 3–5 years, depending on use and care. Panels last 25+ years.
Can I start on-grid and add a battery later?
Yes. We can design your system so a hybrid inverter and battery can be added later without replacing your panels.
